Armed with an extensive background in public service at the City of Los Angeles, Kate is one of L.A.’s most trusted leaders when it comes to advocacy, policy analysis, economic development, land use and strategic community outreach. In her role as Senior Vice President at Bodewell Group, she serves as a communications strategist and government relations consultant, helping clients overcome regulatory hurdles and achieve government approvals to move forward with their projects and initiatives. Kate has unparalleled relationships at Los Angeles City Hall and throughout the local governments and community organizations of Southern California, allowing her to quickly identify the people and institutions that can most efficiently and effectively obtain key objectives.
In 2017, Kate founded ColLAborate, acquired by Bodewell Group (formerly Southwest Strategies Group) in 2024. Under her leadership, ColLAborate was one of the most respected public affairs firms in greater Los Angeles, leveraging Kate’s deep civic experience and local connections to execute successful government affairs and strategic communications initiatives.
Prior to her agency work, Kate served the City of Los Angeles for more than a dozen years, most recently as Economic Development and Legislative Director for Councilmember Paul Koretz. She advised on business retention, job creation, transportation policy and economic development, as well as key legislative issues including wage theft prevention and minimum wage proposals. She previously served as Senior Policy Director in the Office of Economic and Business Policy for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, where she worked with the Hollywood film and entertainment community.
A native Angeleno, Kate serves on numerous civic and nonprofit boards and commissions, including the L.A. County Library Foundation, where she is board chair, the Board of Regents of Loyola Marymount University, and the Los Angeles County Sybil Brand Commission. Kate earned a BA in English from Loyola Marymount University, and later received a Master of International Public Policy and Management degree from the University of Southern California.
