Brent brings a distinguished career to the agency, spanning public policy, intergovernmental relations and public relations with emphasis on water and wastewater communications, including potable reuse and value of water. As an expert in a range of policy arenas, Brent serves a wide range of clients, providing strategic advice, developing comprehensive communications plans, creating informational materials and implementing communication and public relations strategies.
Prior to joining the agency, Brent served as deputy director of external affairs for the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department and took on the responsibility of leading the outreach and communications team on high-profile projects including Pure Water San Diego, water rate cases, customer support, water conservation and infrastructure projects. In this capacity he led stakeholder engagement activities, developed comprehensive outreach campaigns, designed and implemented public education events and served as media spokesperson for water and wastewater.
Prior to this work, Brent served as assistant director of government relations for the City of San Diego, engaging with all levels of government on infrastructure projects and public policy priorities.
